Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

To acquaint students with computational hydraulics and most widely used program funds in this area. It discussed the necessary theoretical framework for river hydraulics, including the most commonly used methods of numerical solution to the river flow. Major emphasis is placed on practical work, which consists of the construction (schematization) model of the river section, simulations steady, unsteady flow and sediment transport and subsequent visualization of results (floodplains, flow velocity and sediment transport in channels and inundation areas). The river level schematization of the model is demonstrated by linking the most widely used numerical models and GIS. The final lecture discusses the application of computational hydraulics and environmental engineering problems, selecting appropriate tools and methods (2D x 1D models, GIS preprocessors) and finally the process of calibration and verification of models. Output knowledge, skills and competence: After completing the course the student should demonstrate proficiency in terms of the computational hydraulics and hydrodynamic models. Then apply the acquired knowledge in practical applications, which consist primarily of analysis of river flow and inundation zones for disaster management, editing riverbed, restoration actions and interactions of rainfall-runoff and hydrodynamic models.
