Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
One of the major objectives of historical geology is to describe the history of the Earth from its inception to the present. Knowledge and explanation how to recognise geological time and the use of stratigraphy, and paleontology to tell the sequence of these events.

Summary
Foundations of stratigraphy, paleogeography and geotectonics. An overview of
the paleontological system and the foundations of nomenclature. The origin of
the Earth and its earliest developmental stages. Characteristics of the
Precambrium. The division of the Paleozoic, the
Mesozoic, the Tertiary, geology of the Quaternary. The Bohemian Massif,
delimitation and division. The description
of main complexes. Fundamental features of the development and division of the
Western Carpathians with special attention to the Outer Carpathians.
