Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of the subject a special engineering geology in particular, understanding the main principles, and methodologies engineering geological investigation for different types of engineering objects, such as transport, water, underground construction, etc.

Summary

Methodology and legislature of EG design. Complexes of methods and methodical processing. Asessment of EG conditions for urban planning, ground and subsurface constructions, reconstruction and remediation works. Prognosis of interaction between rock enviroment and infrastructure. Reasons of constructions cracs. Tasks of EG in environmental engineering – waste deposits, protection embankments, undermine areas.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Znalostí jsou v průběhu semestru kontrolovány pomocí semestrálních programů. Studium předmětu je zakončeno zkouškou, ke které lze přistoupit až po získání zápočtu. Zkouška má písemnou a ústní část.

Subject syllabus:

Lectures: Urban planning, project documentation, legislation to implement exploration. Principles of projecting exploration Legislation. EG documents for calculating the carrying capacity, compressibility, stability of foundation soils. Conditions for digging pits, making embankments, trenches - dissolubility , workability, consolidating, etc. Methods of investigation and assessment of foundation conditions for: civil construction - residential units, buildings, utilities, industrial construction - heavy facilities, heating plant, cold storage, etc. communication construction - highways, roads, railways, bridges, underground structures - tunnels, underground caverns, hydrotechnical structures - dams, water pumping power plants, canals, waste dump. Exploration and evaluation of the geological environment for remediation of slope deformation, reclamation of undermined areas. Practice: Drawing up purpose EG maps from the results of drilling and geophysical survey - offering project. Bearing capacity and compressibility for the 1 geotechnical category. Calculation of the pit slope, cutting, embankment. Drawing up zonning maps and sections of highway. The calculation of critical pressure from water pressure tests. Project exploration operations for landslide remediation. The project survey work to select suitable sites for waste dumps. Assessment and evaluation of tenders projects to ensure the old dump.
