Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The main goal of the subject is to make students acquainted with the main technical means and individual drilling machine units which are used at various types in drilling rigs. The students have to gain basic knowledge about individual operative parts of these drilling rigs. They must be able to characterize these parts and to describe their types of construction. On the basis of the acquired theoretical knowledge they have to explain principle of their operation and to desribe their individual elements. They must be able to apply gained theoretical knowledge in the computation and practical tutorials during drilling directly on the rig. The students have to learn how to read design documentation containing the various types of contruction of individual mechanical parts of drilling rigs, to sketch the elementary function charts of the drilling units and to explain their functionality. By use of the analyse they must be able to know how to select these procedures leading to the effective solution of tasks, scheduled in the tutorials. The students must be able to design the final form of solution in the form of papers by use of the synthesis. They have to learn to judge the importance of the gained information, to evaluate them and choose these which are material and usable for their further professional progress.

Summary

The subject gives basic information about individual drilling machine units and technical means, which are the main components of various types of drilling rigs. It is especially intent on these units of drilling rigs. The main functional parts of drilling units. Driving equipment of drilling units – internal combustion, electric and hydraulic drilling engines, driving gear mechanismus. Pulling equipment of drilling units – drilling derrick, rig drawwork, hoisting system, drilling rope. Drilling rig equipment – rotary, tables, rotary heads, downhole motors, vibrating and pereussion drilling equipment. Circulating equipment of drilling units. – mud (vibrating) screens, hydrocyclone separators, mud centrifuges, degassers etc. Safety gears of drilling units – preventers (ram, annular and revolving preventers), preventer manifolds. Measuring equipment of drilling units – devices for drilling drive measurement. Construction, function and importance of the main parts of drilling units for drilling activity realization. Calculations connected with proportioning of particular parts of drilling machines and mechanisms for rotary and core drilling.
