Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Goal of the subject is to provide knowledge to the university student, so he/she will be able to understand given points at issue good enough to analyse its content, to realise synthesis of the acquired information and its evaluation. This sciential base allow student to compare results of the synthesis, propose modifications and solve the problems of the world mineral resources.

Summary

The term of resources and reserves of mineral raw materials. World resources, reserves and production of particular fuels and energy minerals, metalliferous, nonmetalliferous and hydromineral raw materials. Major industrial types and their shares in the amounts of resources, reserves and production overall and according to major present and potential producers. Trends in the development of reserves and production and factors affecting them. Problems of the geographically and geopolitically uneven distribution of major mineral resources. Issues of the relation between developing and industrially advanced countries in connection with the utilisation of mineral resources. Mineral resources of seas and oceans. Factors affecting their future utilisation. The utilisation of world mineral resources and the issues of sustainable development.

Subject syllabus:

Pojem zdroje a zásoby nerostných surovin. Jejich klasifikace. Světové zdroje, zásoby a těžba jednotlivých palivoenergetických, rudných, nerudných a hydrominerálních surovin. Hlavní průmyslové typy nerostných surovin a jejich podíl na výši zdrojů, zásob a těžby celkově a podle hlavních současných a potenciálních producentů. Trendy vývoje zásob nerostných surovina a faktory je ovlivňující. Trendy vývoje světové a domácí těžby nerostných surovin a faktory je ovlivňující. Problematika geograficky a geopoliticky nerovnoměrného rozmístění hlavních nerostných surovinových zdrojů. Problematika vztahu rozvojových a průmyslově vyspělých zemí ve vztahu k využívání nerostných surovinových zdrojů. Nerostné surovinové zdroje moří a oceánů. Faktory ovlivňující jejich budoucí využití. Využívání světových a domácích nerostných surovinových zdrojů ve vztahu ke koncepci trvale udržitelného rozvoje.
