Knowledge and comprehension of genesis and classification of rocks. Recognize and describe rock textures and structures. Students should learn:
Collect fundamentals of research and classification of rocks Describe, clarify and interpret processes of rock cycle Apply analytical methods to describe rocks Ilustrate knowledge in simple examples of utilization of rock

Genetic criteria for classification of rocks. Petrography of igneous rocks with – current classification (IUGS). Chemical classification of metamorphic rocks – principles of genetic classification, modelling of metamorphic processes (petrogenetic lattices).

The formation of sediments.
Classification schemes for sedimentary rocks.
Petrology of metamorphic rocks - principles of genetic classification, modelling processes of metamorphosis (petrogenetic grids).
