Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of the course is to make students familiar with the history of and the prospects for search for and mining of hydrocarbon deposits in connection with individual theories of hydrocarbon origin and rules of deposit formation. Students must acquire knowledge of main oil bearing provinces in the world and also of areas with the occurrence of hydrocarbons in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, on the basis of synthesis and critical evaluation of input data, especially from geophysical and drill-hole exploration, to look for optimal procedures of solving of set tasks. Then to apply gained experience also in further professional activities.

Summary

A theory of the origin of oil and natural gas deposits. Basic types of deposit traps, their geological picture, elements and mode. Methodologies of exploration and exploitation of deposits of natural hydrocarbons. Problems and importance of the establishment of underground natural gas storages. The geology of deposits of natural hydrocarbons of the Czech Republic. The geology of world deposits of natural hydrocarbons. Geological, minable and inferred reserves of natural hydrocarbons.
