Summary

The course intended for graduates of other than geological disciplines. Hydrosphere and water in rock environment. Basic hydrogeological terminology of water bearing rock environment. Fundamentals of hydrochemistry (hydrochemical classification system, methods of data processing e.t.c.). Hydrological and hydrogeological characteristics of drainage area – water balance equation. Fundamentals of hydraulics of fluids and their accumulation in porous media. Geohydrodynamic systems and their classification. Groundwater regime - measurements and evaluation. Applied hydrogeology - tasks. HG prospection of natural resources and its tasks during the exploitation. Exploration and remediation of contaminated groundwater, prospection for surface and underground waste repository constructions e.t.c. Groundwater quality protection (monitoring of contamination, zones of groundwater hygienic protection). Legislation in hydrogeology.
