Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

One of the major objectives of historical geology is to describe the history of the Earth from its inception to the present. Knowledge and explanation how to recognise geological time and the use of stratigraphy, and paleontology to tell the sequence of these events.

Teaching methods

Individual consultations

Summary

Selected chapters dealing with new knowledge from the field of biostratigraphy, paleoecology, paleoclimatology and paleogeography. New trends in lithostratigraphy. Foundations of sequential stratigraphy. New knowledge in international stratigraphic units, in the classification of formations and geochronological dating. Regional geology of the Bohemina Massif, the Outer Western Carpathians and the all Carpathian system in the light of knowledge from the las decade. Regional geology of selected units.
