Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The subject is devoted to drilling techniques and individual types of drilling. The main part of the subject gives an overall overview of the techniques used in the execution of drilling operations, including the classification of drilling rigs, their main functional units and the presentation of each type of drilling rig and its accessories. It also discusses the current state of development and upgrading of drilling rigs and presents it on specific types of drilling rigs. It also discusses guidelines for the innovation of drilling rigs and drilling equipment and prospects for further technological development. Of the drilling technology, the subject focuses on the dissemination of rocks during drilling, the construction and work of drilling tools and the drilling regime, as well as on the construction and stresses of drilling and casing strings, the ways of conducting drilling cement and insulation of layers, the ways of purging wells and drilling media, the issues of spontaneous drilling curves and drilling failures and accidents.

Summary
Both ‘shallow’ and ‘deep’ drilling is a field that extends either directly or indirectly into many other fields, making it important and necessary for a wide range of technical activity. The main function of drilling lies in its cooperation on mining activities, in the exploration of mineral deposits, where it is the main component of the exploration technique and in the extraction itself, when it takes over the function of mining works. The extraction of oil, natural gas and, in part, the extraction of groundwater is unthinkable without deep-water drilling.
For these purposes, drilling is carried out both from the ground and from mining works. Other fields where deep drilling is now widely used are mainly construction, where an increase in drilling is particularly noticeable, both in quantitative and qualitative terms (construction, injection, anchor, etc.) as well as water management. In the last period, the development of drilling is also evident in energy (drilling for heat pumps and others).
