Summary

Petroleum geology is the study of origin, occurrence, movement, accumulation, and exploration of hydrocarbon fuels. It refers to the specific set of geological disciplines that are applied to the search for hydrocarbons (oil exploration).

Other requirements

Students demonstrate theoretical and practical knowledge in understanding the development of sediment accumulations that are related to the occurrence of hydrocarbons. They will understand the relationships between the genesis of sedimentary basins, the rate of sediment accumulation. The aim is to show the basics of classification of sedimentary basins and methods of their study. Attention is also paid to the practical application of basin analysis, especially when searching for natural gas and oil deposits.
