Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Basic understanding of the history of the Czech lands with emphasis on its reflection in the material culture. Knowledge of typical characteristics of each artistic period and possible use in tourism.

Summary
The course chronologicaly explains each evoliton era of the Czech society, while taking into account philosophical and cultural tendencies of said time periods. Through essential events in the history it clarifies historical context and also invokes further study of this matter. Lecture will guide the audience through the history from the oldest events documented by archeological findings, through medieval Czech kingdom, religious conflicts, Habsburg monarchy, up to century of the two world wars and formation and further patition of Czechoslovakia.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester
Knowledge are checked during the semester by a semester project and. The course is completed by an examination, which may be scheduled having gained the initial credit.

1. Periodization of the Czech history using modern Historiography, main diferences in development of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia
2. Prehistory, archeological findings, Celts, Gerrmans, Slavs
3. Forming of the first political units, Marobud, Samo and their lands, Great moravia and Czech state
4. Centralizing of the Czech princedom, hereditary kings, Přemyslid dynasty, Romanesque architecture
5. Czech kingdom at its prime, Jan and Karel Lucemburg, Gothic period
6. Religious reformation and Hussite Wars
7. George of Poděbrady, Jagiellonian dynasty, Renaissance
8. Restoration of Catholic faith, Thirty Years´War, Habsburg dynasty, turkish threat
9. War over austrian heritage, Age of Enlightment, Germanizing, Baroque
10. Napolean War, industrial revolution, national self-awareness
