Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The basic benefit is the knowledge of the division of information systems on the basis of functional and spatial aspect, as well as mastery of work with local, regional and global information and reservation systems. It is important to focus on collecting and analyzing information for the preparation and implementation of products in geoscience and industrial tourism.

Summary

Information and reservation systems are at present crucial tourism distribution systems, the essential features of which are the storage, distribution and provision of information. The aim of the course is to acquaint students with this issue and teach them to work with selected systems. In the introduction is listed a definition of information and reservation systems as crucial distribution systems. Principles of using modern information technologies in air, rail, road and ship transport, accommodation facilities, in travel agencies and agencies. Computer reservation systems. Global distribution systems. Development of information and reservation systems in the Czech Republic. The impact of Internet development on the development of GDS (e-ticketing, e-business in GDS). Examples of information and reservation systems (transport, accommodation, travel agencies). Connecting global and regional distribution systems. Solution procedure practical tasks on selected system.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Knowledge are checked during the semester by a semester project or presentations in MS PowerPoint. The course is completed by an examination, which may be scheduled having gained the initial credit. The examination is divided into a written or oral part.
