Summary
Project management is relatively similar to other areas of support in the field of tourism, but there are some specifics. Tourism projects primarily serve to increase incoming or domestic tourism in the Czech Republic. These can be both investment projects that focus on the construction or restoration of various objects, cultural monuments and localities, as well as the opportunity to meet projects aimed at promoting inanimate nature (e.g. geo parks) or industrial monuments. The specifics of a number of projects are the involvement of other entities in the implementation, thus creating the necessary platform for project activities and invested investments to benefit all involved. Individual tourist units, destination management and tourist centers, tourist information centers and other local entities are involved and directly involved in the project activities. One of the biggest pitfalls of project management in operational programs supporting tourism is the selection of suitable monitoring indicators. The actual control and monitoring of the course of the project implementation then depends on the participants and implementers, who should be experts in the given field of activities. That is why the project teams can meet both professionals from the travel industry (tourist office workers, travel agency owners), economic and financial analysts, marketing managers, IT specialists, civil engineers, restorers, historians, geologists, etc.
