Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The aim of this subject is acquaint of students with practical measuring of physical and mechanical properties of rocks and soils. Practical testing of rock is done in laboratory as well as in situ according to valid EN technical norms and ISRM Suggested Methods.

Subject syllabus:
1. Measuring of physical properties of Rocks (apparent density, real density, porosity, water absorption).
2. Measuring of physical properties of Soils (consistency limits, grainsize analysis, soil classification).
3. Mechanical properties of Rocks and Soils ( UCS, Tensile and tangencial strength).
4. Practical measuring in situ (measuring of discontunities, Schmidt hammer, light dynamic penetration - DPL)
