Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Students are able to describe the basic operations of grinding, sorting, classification and solid phase separation. They are oriented in the basic methods of technological tests connected with the modification of the granularity of utility raw materials.Students are able to choose the appropriate type of equipment and perform basic technological calculations.

Summary

The course is devoted to the basics of processes associated with crumbling and sorting of raw materials. Attention is paid to individual types of crushing and sorting equipment, their design and determination of performance parameters. Possibilities of deployment of individual machines in raw material processing technologies are analyzed.

Subject syllabus:

1. Importance and purpose of comminution and sorting processes in technology of processing of raw materials, division and brief description of processes, Sampling of utility raw materials 2.Characteristics of granulometric composition of utility raw materials 3.The essence of comminution processes, energy consumption during comminution 4. Crushers, characteristics, applications and basic operational calculations 5. Mills, characteristics, applications and basic operational calculations of mills 6.Special ways of diminishing 7. Mechanical sorting, nature and application 8. Characteristics and construction of mechanical sorters, basic operational calculations 9.Hydraulic classification, nature and application 10.Hydraulic classifiers, characteristics and basic technological calculations 11.Evaluation of efficiency of comminution and sorting processes 12.Technological schemes for material comminution and sorting 13. Modern trends in material comminution
