The goal of the subject is to create the ability of students to understand and interpret learned information in the fields of mining risks and mines rescue.

Summary

The subject contents the summary of risks in mining - explosion of flammable gases and coal dust, underground fires, spontaneous combustion, rock and gas outburts, etc. and the principles of the safety engineering in mining as labour safety, environmental science - mine gases, heat in mines, mine dust and health hazard, explosion protection, ignition protection etc. The part of mines rescue service contents their organization, equipment, training, legislation and activities as firefighting technologies in CZ and abroad.

Subject syllabus:

1. Mining risks, basic types of mining accidents, frequency and occurrence 2. Effects of gases on the human body, permissible concentrations of toxic gases 3. Mining microclimate, microclimate standardisation 4. Explosivity of gases and dusts, dealing with explosive gases 5. Dust, hygiene risks, dust limits 6. Risk of spontaneous combustion of coal 7. Endogenous and exogenous mine fires 8. Cave-ins, cave-ins, water, rock and gas overflows 9. Mine tremors 10. Mining rescue service in the Czech Republic, organisation, legislation 11. Organisation of rescue operations, platoons, bases, basic tasks 12. Rescue of the consequences of accidents in mines 13. Rescue in difficult microclimatic conditions; Breathing technique
