Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of the course is to teach students to analyze problems in technological processes of mineral processing. On the basis of the theoretical description of treatment procedures and mineral raw material analysis, students are able to assess and design basic technologies suitable for the processing of a particular type of raw material.

Summary

The subject acquaints students with methods of processing extracted minerals, aiming to evaluate the raw material so that the resulting products can serve in other areas of human activity. The subject provides an overview of technologies used in the treatment and processing of individual types of extracted mineral resources. Within the subject, a high emphasis is placed on innovative trends and modern processes of raw materials processing, especially in terms of minimizing their impact on the environment and high efficiency. Theoretical knowledge is verified by laboratory experiments, which show the practical application of studied methods.

Knowledge: Students are able to describe the basic theory finishing processes used in the treatment of minerals, understand the basic technological methods of testing and control methods for their evaluation. Skills: Students are able to choose the appropriate method of treatment and to determine its effectiveness.

Syllabus of lectures 1. Basic concepts from the field of treatment of minerals, tailings distribution processes Separation second, definitions and basic concepts. Technological properties of minerals 3. The preparatory finishing processes, crushing machines Fourth grinding, main types of mills and their use 5. Sorting, purpose, inclusion in the process of editing, machinery and equipment 6. Factors affecting the efficiency of separation 7. Gravity concentration, theoretical foundations and applications 8. Gravity concentration, separation of heavy suspensions 9. Gravity concentration, separation on jigs, sluices and hydrocyclones 10. Separation of magnetic and electric fields, theoretical foundations 11. Separation in the magnetic and electric field, machines, devices and applications 12. Physical-chemical separation processes, theoretical foundations flotation 13. Flotation reagents, types of flotation devices 14.
