Understanding patterns of mechanical size reduction of raw material, agents influencing effect of classification. Identify and design utilization of suitable plant with the view to characteristics of current processing raw materials.

Subject syllabus:

Lectures: 1. Physical and mechanical properties of raw materials. 2. Purpose and reasons for inclusion of the mechanical size reduction in the treatment technology. Technological procedures for diminution, purpose and reasons for their use. 3. Theory of diminutions process, losses created by the diminution, their size separation and possibility of reduction. 4. Crushability, grindability – determination, the crushing degree, the relative grindability. 5. Rough crushing, the main types of used crushers. 6. Medium and fine crushing, the main types of used crushers. 7. Grinding, the main types of mills, construction, function, conditions for optimal grinding, using. 8. Screening, factors affecting screening, screening efficiency, screening and mechanical factor 9. Screening areas. 10. Bar screens, types, functions. 11. Steady motion screening area screens. 12. Vibration motion screening area screens. 13. Multi-frequency screens. 14. Specific types of classifiers. 15. Washing, the purpose, types of equipment. 16. Distribution, classifiers, purpose, types of equipment. 17. Pneumatic classification. Exercise: 1. Determination of specific gravity of aggregate Pycnometric according to CSN 72 1171 2. Bulk density of aggregates according to CSN 72 1171¨ Bulk density according to CSN 72 1171 Porosity - the calculation of the measured values of density and density according to CSN 72 1171 Voids - calculation from the measured values of bulk density and density according to CSN 72 1171 3. Determination of density of coarse aggregate by weighing in the air and in the water according to CSN 72 1171 4. Shape index of coarse aggregate - a description of the shape of grains by measuring and calculated values and calculation of the volumetric coefficient according to CSN 72 1172 5.
