Intensifying of student knowledge, which is associated with practical realization of adjustment operations generating flow sheet of coal preparation.

Summary

Auditory are informed about theory and field experience of all technological operations, which are participate in the process of coal preparation. Part of the subject is also methods of automation and control of adjustment processes.

Subject syllabus:

Lectures: 1. Introduction Carbon in nature, origin and chemical composition of coal. Deposits of black coal in the CR, brown coal deposits in the country. Deposits of other fossil fuels in the country. 2. Classification of coal. Petrographic classification of coal. International trade classification. 3. Sampling of coal. Definitions and identifications of basic components of coal and their utilization in the process of coal preparation. Physical properties of coal and their use in the process coal preparation. 4. Treatability assessment of coal. Application of the coal treatability diagram for choosing a technology of coal treatment. 5. Preparatory processes in the treatment of coal (acceptance, protection against foreign objects, classification before treatment, blow down). Basic types of used equipment. 6. Separation of coal (in suspensions, jigs, HC, spirals, pneumatic separators, chutes, flotation). Specialities in separation of coal. 7. Auxiliary processes in the treatment of coal (drainage of products - screens, centrifuges, filters, tanks, sludge thickening - thickeners, drying). 8. Options for monitoring the efficiency of coal and separating their practical use (T - curves, deviation of ash, organic yield). 9. The circulation of water in the coal treatment plant (cleaning, sludge sedimentation, flocculation agents, closure of the sludge stream). Regeneration of suspension. 10. Waste management of coal treatment plants. 11. Basic technological schemes of coal treatment, their choice. 12. Basic technological schemes of treatment of brown coal, their choice. 13. Basic economic factors and aspects of coal preparation, the possibility of improving economic results. Basic problems of the coal mining and perspective of their solution. Seminars: 1. Classification of coal - international classification - Czech classification - Business groups, classification by grain composition The principle of the type determination of coal by its classification code numbers and granularity. 2. Determination of qualitative indicators in the treatment of coal - examples. The ash content, water, volatile combustibles - The principle of determination - Norm - A practical determination of volatile combustible 3. Determination of coking coal properties - Swelling index, Roga index - Dilatometric test of cokeability - The principles of determination, norms - A practical determination of the swelling index 4. Determination of the energy properties of coal - Combustion heat - Calorific value - The principles of determination, standards The calculation of combustion heat and calorific value of the specified values 5. The composition of coal, ash material and ash - Elemental analysis of coal - Calculation of H and C contents from the specified values - Analysis of ash material, principle and methodology - Analysis of ash – the calculation of ash components from input values - Ash melting point, principle, norm 6. Sulfur in coal - forms of sulfur in coal, their representation - Principles of determination, standards - Practical and determination of all and pyrytic sulfur in coal 7. Petrographic composition of coal - Maceral components of coal - Methods of petrographic analysis of polished sections of coal - Determination of the basic components of coal under the microscope, practices of analysis of polished sections 8. Technology nodes of coal preparation - Sorting, separating - Selection of equipment and procedures before the coal sorting according to granulation composition and quantity of raw coal (gross extraction) - Proposal sorting unit according to the specified values - Choice of separation equipment and their capacities according to given values 9. Coal preparation technology nodes - Drainage, reclamation, purification of industrial water - Choice of drainage equipment by the amount of quantity and content of water in products - According to the specified values - Choice of thickening device according to the volume of water in circulation, their concentration and content of solid particles - According to the specified values - Technological scheme of regeneration suspension - type example 10. – 11. Technology scheme proposal of treatment of black coal from the specified values (gross production, grain size composition, modifiability classes, the required quality of products). 12. Technology of brown coal treatment - basic types of technological schemes - design of technological scheme of the specified values. 13. Analysis of costs of coal treatment according to the calculation - Major cost items for the treatment of coal - Options of optimization of cost for the treatment of coal - Calculation of expected costs for a specific technology of the specified values. 14. Excursion to the coal preparation plant in the Ostrava-Karviná district. 15. Final exercise (repetition, test, credit).
