Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The aim of the course is to acquaint the students with the fundamentals of nanotechnologies and nanomaterials. They will acquire knowledge that will enable them to understand the broader context and possible applications in the studied field.

Summary
Within the course, basic terms and definitions in the field of Nanotechnology, classification of nanomaterials, chemical and physical properties and methods of preparation will be studied. Furthermore, applications of nanomaterials, their toxicological effects and negative impact on the environment will be studied. In the content of the course a discussion on legislation related to nanotechnologies will also be.

Student elaborates a seminar paper on a given topic in the field of nanotechnologies.

1. Introduction to nanotechnologies and nanomaterials, history of nanotechnologies.

6. Bottom-up synthesis of nanomaterials
7. Physical methods of preparation of nanomaterials
8. Chemical methods of nanomaterials preparation
9. Characterization of nanomaterials - chemical methods of analysis
10. Characterization of nanomaterials - phase and structure analysis
