Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The goal of the subject students first learn the basic concepts and importance of the subject of rock and soil mechanics. Are also discussed properties of rocks and soils, which are presented in sets of physical properties, mechanical properties and technological properties of rocks including methods of their determination.

• determine the basic physical and mechanical properties of rocks and soils in the laboratory according to applicable standards and recommended practices
• classify mountain range (or soil) based on the determination of the physico-mechanical properties of rocks and soils

Subject syllabus:
1) Introduction, importance MHaZ, basic concepts, rock, soil, rock mass, etc.
genesis of rocks, the distribution of basic properties of rocks and soils.
2) Physical properties - descriptive (mass and gravitational properties, porosity, density,
humidity, saturation, grain size composition, soil classification, etc.).
3) Physical and technical characteristics (permeability, thermal properties, properties
used in geophysics)
4) Physico-chemical properties (boptnavost, rozbřídavost, consistency states
soils, consistency limits, plasticity index, consistency ...).
5) Mechanical properties of rocks and soils - the basic division of moss. properties, strength properties of rocks and soils.
6) Mechanical properties of rocks and soils - strain and rheological properties of rocks (modulus of elasticity and deformation, Poisson's ratio ...).
7) Rheological modeling
8) Factors affecting the detection of mechanical properties, conversion
laboratory strength to strength massif, mechanical anisotropy of rocks.
9) Technological properties of rocks (zkypřitelnost, porosity, compressibility,
external friction, abrasiveness, Workability, hardness, abrasion resistance, frost resistance, etc.)
10) The energy characteristics of the rocks.
