Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of the course is to provide information to students in the field of geodetic calculations on the sphere and rotating ellipsoid and further address the question of the local and global geodetic control.

The subject expands knowledge of Geodesy on three-dimensional geodesy and theory of Global Navigation Satellite Systems.

Subject syllabus:

1. Basic parameters of the earth ellipsoid and their mutual relations. Coordinate systems on the Earth's rotational ellipsoid. Relations between coordinate systems on the ellipsoid. 2. Basic concepts and relations on the reference sphere. Solution of spherical triangles. 3. Solving fundamental geodetic problems. Solving the fundamental problems on Earth's elipsoid. 4. Coordinate systems in the Czech Republic. 5. Basic concepts of three-dimensional geodesy. Coordinate transformations.Spatial intersection. 6. Coordinate transformations (linear and spatial). 7. Global and continental coordinate systems. 8. Basics of GNSS technology. 9. Theory of heights.
