Summary
The course expands knowledge about the causes of rock mass and surface movement due to undermining, deals with the theory of full effective area and methods of prognostic calculations of undermining effects and the possibilities of protecting the surface and mining works from the effects of undermining.

Subject syllabus:
Mining damage, their origin and causes, the effects of mining, the limits of the influence of mining.
Theory of movements caused by mining work in the massif and on the surface.
Movement in the overburden of the extracted part of the deposit, its propagation, limiting angle of influence.
Drop, displacement, tilt, curvature and horizontal deformation.
Methods of preliminary calculations of surface point motion.
Prognosis of the effects of mining on the surface and buildings, the theory of a fully effective area.
Ensuring the stability of surface objects, the principles of legislative surface protection.
Protective pillars of surface objects, shapes of protective pillars and their construction.
