Deepening of knowledge of shifts and deformations measurements (general definition, methods and their accuracies, evaluation of a stability of reference and observed points, results analysis and its interpretation).

Summary
Problems of shifts and deformations measurements considering ordinary and unstable areas (basic terms, reasons of shifts and deformations, purpose of a measurement, creation of a project etc.). Methods of vertical, horizontal and spatial shifts measurement and their choice owing to required accuracy of shifts determination, problems of reference networks and objective evaluation of their stability, analysis and interpretation of achieved results. Specifications of shifts and deformations measurements during load tests of building structures.

Subject syllabus:
• Terminology used for shifts and deformations measurements (ordinary areas) and for movements and deformations measurements (unstable areas in mining countryside).
• Shifts and deformations monitoring methods, monitoring methods of movements and deformations of surface and building objects, accuracy of these methods. Project of an observational station for movements and deformations monitoring in unstable areas.
• Time period of movements and deformations measurements in relation to dynamics of movements and deformations progress.
• Classification of unstable areas and deformations in them.
• Observational station for movements measurements in areas of subsidence.
• Methods of vertical movements (declines) measurement and their accuracies, sources of errors, atmospherical influences.
• Methods of horizontal movements (shifts) measurement and their accuracies, sources of errors, atmospherical influences.
• Methods of spatial movements (shifts) measurement and their accuracies, sources of errors, atmospherical influences.
