Summary

The subject presents management as one of the most important human activities. Lectures are divided into two parts. Initially, the students become familiar with the term management that is further analysed in wider context. Management is seen from ethical as well as social responsibility viewpoint of the manager. The latter part of the course is devoted to introduction of managerial functions classification, focusing on sequence and parallel functions.

Subject syllabus:

1st Defining the essentials concepts of management, characteristics of managerial work, managerial characters and skills, a brief historical development of management. 2nd Corporate ethics and corporate culture. 3rd System approach to management. 4th Meetings and principles of their leadership. 5th Managerial functions planning: definition, characteristics of different types of plans, the planning process. Management by objectives (MBO). 6th Strategic planning and management: definition of terms corporate vision and mission, the process of strategic planning. 7th Strategic Analysis: SWOT analysis, Porter’s model, PEST analysis; basic types of strategies and strategic alternatives. 8th Managerial decision-making functions: definition, risk, decompose of time of the decision-making process, decision-making group, fundamental types of decision-making methods. 9th Decision-making methods: decision analysis, decision trees, modelling and simulation, crisis management. 10th Managerial functions of the organization: definition, process organization, basic types of organizational structures and their classification, organizational and legal form of business. 11th Managerial functions of leadership: definition, basic effects on employee performance, motivation and motivation theories, motivational factors, the importance of working groups and the factors affecting their performance and efficiency, the development phase of the team. 12th Managerial control functions: definition, classification review process, recommendations for the implementation of control activities, the trend of development control activities. 13th Communication and presentation skills of manager. 14th Integrated management.
