Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Student demonstrates knowledge and understanding:
• basic concepts, forms, functions and meanings of business and strategic planning,
• structure and requirements of the business plan as the primary strategic document of the company,
• management methods and tools of strategic and project management,
• basic orientation in raw materials markets.
Student can:
• to solve, elaborate and implement a business plan in the selected area of business related to mineral raw materials.
• use management tools such as SMART, SWOT, P5F, PESTLE, BEP, NPV, IRR, Gantt and others.
Student is able to:
• create vision, mission and business goals,
• to analyze, characterize and to orientate in the business environment of the Czech Republic,
• create, characterize and evaluate the business plan.

Summary
The course introduces the concepts of business project, plan and basic business principles. It presents important parts of the business plan as the real strategic document containing strategic objectives, product, market analyses, technology and production, marketing, return of investment, project timetable, risks and information systems. An introduction to market and business in mineral resources is presented. Students will try to build their own business plan.

Other requirements
At the end of the course the students demonstrate knowledge of basic concepts and principles of entrepreneurial activity. Students also demonstrate the knowledge needed to create a strategic business plan, set up a business and knowledge of the basic laws related to business activity.
At the end of the course, students can understand the context of the business process, evaluate their own strengths and weaknesses in business, and develop a business plan. They are also able to discuss business issues.
