The aim of the course is to obtain professional knowledge of Microsoft Office and know how to apply them in economic practice.

Summary

Students will learn to use Word for writing semestral papers, Bachelor and Master theses, Excel for the creation of economic models, application of economic and financial analysis and Powerpoint for presentation of the results.

For communication beyond the framework of in-person training camps, the Moodle learning management system (lms.vsb.cz) is used, through which communication is enabled not only between the teacher and students, but also between students.

Subject syllabus:

1. Preparation of a document in Word - document structure (size, margins, headers, footers, sections, paragraphs, fonts, styles, windows, navigation), edit of text, spelling, grammar, the mail merge. 2. Operation with tables (creation, automatic subtitling, calculations), citations, cross-references, indexes, footnotes, the equation editor. 3. Revision of the document-tracking changes, acceptance/rejection of the changes, comments, translations. 4. Preparation of the document in Excel - document structure (size, orientation, margins, header, footer), font, formatting, conditional formatting, windows. 5. Operations with the data in Excel - sorting, grouping, filtering, separation, summary, search. 6. Operations with tables and graphs, the equation editor. 7. Matrix calculations in Excel. 8. Operations with functions in Excel - financial functions. 9. Operations with functions in Excel - mathematical functions for economists. 10.Operations with functions in Excel - statistical functions (descriptive statistics, distribution function, probability density function). 11.Operations with functions in Excel – the search functions, the information functions and the text functions. 12.Operations with functions in Excel - database functions. 13.Operations with functions in Excel - logical functions. 14.Creation of PowerPoint presentations.
