Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Define the core business of the mining company and its management. Clarify the relationship between the structure of assets and capital and between the revenues, costs and economic performance of the enterprise. Compile the balance sheet and other statements of the mining company. Choose and use appropriate data and mathematical equipment for business analysis. Evaluate the financial situation of the mining company.

Summary

Learning outcomes of the course unit the students will acquaint with the basics of the industrial business economy. The lectures are characterized by the enterprise in the raw material industry, its objectives and functions, the main activities and their management. At exercises the students acquire practical skills in solving case studies and calculation of examples from the environment of mining enterprises.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Semestral project presentation, written and oral exam.

E-learning

The scope of the contact part of the combined study is 12 hours of lectures and 12 hours of seminars per semester. Preparation of a professional project with a final report of at least 10 A4 pages on the topic of financial analysis of an industrial company. Control during the semester as part of individual consultations and after submitting work. The Moodle learning management system (lms.vsb.cz) is used for communication beyond the scope of presentations. Through LMS Moodle, it is possible to communicate and transfer learning materials not only between the teacher and students, but also between students.

1. The essence of an industrial enterprise and business 2. The specifics of the enterprise in the raw material industry 3. The ownership structure of the mining enterprise 4. The capital structure of the mining enterprise 5. Relationship between the structure of assets and the capital of the enterprise in the raw material industry 6. Costs of the mining enterprise 7. Revenue of the mining enterprise 8. The economic result of the enterprise in the raw material industry 9. Workforce of the enterprise in the raw material industry 10. Manufacturing activity in the raw material industry 11. Financial activity of the mining enterprise 12. Investment activity of the mining enterprise 13. Purchasing and sales activities of the mining enterprise
