Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Prerequisites and co-requisites Basic knowledge of design and use of computer technology in relation to process control in raw materials industry. Describe and derive background for design, selection of computer technology. Competence in the operation of computer technology, the ability to evaluate proposals for purchase, the replacement of computer technology in leading functions.

Learning outcomes of the course unit The course is focused on basic knowledge of numerical techniques for students of economics with a focus on raw materials industry. Based on the knowledge of computer technology, it further develops knowledge of the environment and the connection of computer peripherals. To better understand computer technology, students are introduced to the basics of logic circuits, logical algebra. In the following it gradually introduces individual parts of personal computer, peripherals, input of output device. Securing IT in harsh environments, power backup and system backup.

Subject syllabus:
1. Computer, basic scheme, von Neuman concept, Harvard concept, multiprocessors, functions, history and division
2. Computer and its surroundings, I / O interface of the computer, bus, memory, CPU,
3. Design and technology of logic circuits,
4. Basic connection of combinational logic circuits
5. Sequential logic circuits
6. Structure and function of personal computer: autotest BIOS, memory test, add-on adapters, memory allocation and management, program introduction, basics of interrupt system.
7. Computer CPU Concepts: 80x86 Memory Processors, Program Management, Differences in HW8 Operations. Pentium class processors, memory management, program management, differences in HW operation, application examples.
