Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The subject informs on the development of consumer protection, its legislative framework in European Union countries and in the Czech Republic. Explain the basic rights of consumers and the procedure of their exercising, and consumers’ participation in the creation of new products. Apart from other things, assess the actual practical examples and model situations will be analysed that will enable students to obtain a deeper insight into ordinary problems in the field of consumer protection and safe products.

Lectures

Summary

Instruction in the subject analyses the position and specification of consumers in the CR and the EU and includes special terminology, analysis of legislature, statutes and regulations connnected with consumers protection and makes clear consumers status in standardization and their participation in the standard process.

International and national institutions of consumers 5. Consumer protection in EU member countries 6. Consumer protection in the Czech Republic 7. Act no 634/1992 of Coll., consumer protection 8. Act no 89/2012 of Coll., civil code 9. Dishonest dealings and discrimination of a consumer, concluding of consumer contracts 10. Rights resulting from liability for defects of a sold thing and their exercising 11. Act no 102/2001 of Coll., product general safety 12. Act no 22/1977 of Coll., products technical requirements 13. Technical harmonization and consistency assessment
