Learning outcomes of the course unit the subject of Material Flow Management in the Raw Materials Industry introduces historical development, basic concepts, principles and objectives of material flow management. It focuses on orientation in various specific areas of raw material industry and on calculations of basic economic quantities.

Summary

In the field of Material Flow Management in the Raw Materials Industry, students are acquainted, among other things, with product and technology design, localization issues, requirements formulation in planning and management in supply, production and distribution. Attention is also paid to technical means and overview and to the establishment of legal norms that affect the raw materials industry.

Subject syllabus:

1. Characteristics of flows and processes in the raw materials industry. Arrangement of strings and their structure. 2. Economic aspects of material flow management. Performance, cost, service level. Economic balancing. 3. Problems of batch size, substance of batches. 4. Continuous time. Nature, structure, influencing factors. Methods of determination and analysis of the continuous time. 5. Capacity, capacity balance - nature and procedure. 6. Production planning and management: basic functions and tasks, aspects and background for production planning. 7. Supply logistics. Inventory classification. Customer order release point, demand prediction, pull and push systems. 8. Inventory management at the point of disconnection, level of supply services. Ordering systems. 9. Scheduling tasks, materiál flow management. JIT philosophy and lean manufacturing systems. 10 Information systems - ERP, APS. 11. Conditions of economic behavior in global environment. Types of transport, optimal use of transport capacity. 12. Distribution. Basic tasks in distribution, pooling, sorting and assembly, the roll of logistics service providers. 13. Classification and characteristics of technical means in the raw materials industry.
