Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Students will learn comprehensive information about the nature of systems thinking, systems sciences and their fundamental postulates. They learn to categorize systems with regard to their structure and properties and to understand their dynamic behavior.

Summary

The course focuses on the basic concepts of systems theory, introduces the key procedures for system identification. It also deals with the dynamic behavior of systems and simulations of this behavior through models. It is also dedicated to the management of technical systems.

Subject syllabus:

Order and chaos in the principles of systems thinking. Definition of system, types of systems, Checkland and Boulding taxonomy of systems. Systematization of system science, the basic concepts of systems theory. Understanding the definition of the objective reality. Graphical representation of the system and its components, the importance of block diagrams. Basic notions of graph theory to show the structure of the system. Modeling systems, basic properties of models. Dynamics systems - types of system behavior, the behavior of mathematical expression systems, practical examples, static and dynamic characteristics. System view of the dynamic behavior of systems, Forresters models. Control Systems - Control and manage the system, the basic types of proceedings. Control and regulation, control circuit, practical examples, explanations controller design concept and control system. Basic information about the transmission operators, and Laplace transform its importance. Algebra of block diagrams.
