Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of the course is to introduce students with the basic principles of automation, so to be able to define their requirements for any improvement or modification of monitoring or control technological processes with a focus on waste water treatment plants, water treatment plants and pumping stations. Students will learn the basic principles of measurement of process variables (eg. Level measurement, temperature, dissolved oxygen in the liquid, etc.) With the principles of their processing and use for management. They will be introduced to different types of control procedures, too. The practical part is focused on examples of control systems, sensors and actuators, which are most commonly used for the management of such technological processes.

Summary

The course provides basic knowledge of the monitoring and control systems used in technological processes of pumping stations, waste water treatment plants and water treatment plants. Students will learn the basic principles of measurement of process variables (eg. Level measurement, temperature, dissolved oxygen in the liquid, etc.) With their processing and use for the proceedings in the above-mentioned technologies. The practical part is focused on examples of control systems, sensors and actuators, which are most commonly used for the management of such technological processes.
