Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The objective of the subject Fysical Processes is to define information on fysical technological processes of raw material preparation, including applications in the sphere of waste disposal and recycling. Interpretation of the acquired information is within experimental assignments.

Summary

The subject provides students with information on the technological processes of separation. Applying separation the prepared raw material is separated into two or more products which significantly differ in the content of the useful components. Physical methods of separation make use of various properties: • diverse density • different magnetic properties • various voltaic conductivity • different colours and lustre • various reflectance, etc.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Students will include the information gained during a semester into their half-yearly presentations which will react to applications of the individual methods in the sphere of waste disposal.

Subject syllabus:

1. The distribution of basic technological processes of aseperation 2. Overview of separation methods with emphasis on physical processes 3. Separation of suspensions, heavy liquids - principles, types of equipment 4. Separating in the jigs - principles, types of equipment 5. Separating the stream of water on an inclined plane - principles, types of equipment 6. Separation in hydrocyclones - principles, types of equipment 7. Pneumatic separation - principles, types of equipment 8. Magnetic separation - principles, types of equipment 9. Electrical separation - principles, types of equipment 10. Specific ways - by radiometric methods, based on different coefficient of friction or different elasticity, etc.
