Summary
Waste disposal technology, survey, characterization methods. Landfill
controlled and uncontrolled, the classification of landfills, landfill characterization, design
landfills, sealing of landfills, landfill dewatering, degassing landfills, technology
controlled landfills. Closure and rehabilitation of landfills. Deep disposal of waste.
Composting, the principle characteristics of basic methods. Solidification of waste.
Removal and disposal of municipal solid waste.

Subject syllabus:
1. Introduction, waste classification, definitions disposal (disposal,
storage and disposal of waste, the importance of individual procedures.
2. Overview of technologies for waste disposal, the relationship between the composition and characteristics of waste and choosing liquidation technology.
3. Harvesting, collection and transport of waste, handling of waste
4. Basic approaches to solving the problem of disposal of waste into the environment. Landfills, surface, subsurface and deep repository.
5. Building tips, tracking tips, formulas applicable to their
building. Modes landfill reclamation.
6. Methods landfill. Formation and isolation of landfills, monitoring.
7. Decomposition processes in landfills, consequences, options to control them.
8. Deep underground disposal of waste rock into the environment. Options
storage of hazardous and other wastes. Radioactive waste.
9. Solidification, stabilization and encapsulation of waste.
10-11. Philosophy "multi-barrier concept" for waste. Features
geological environment as the main barrier. Technical and engineering barriers
description and classification of their relationship and the possibility of combinations.
12. Chemical oxidation and reduction, catalytic processes, neutralization, hydrolysis, coagulation processes. Pyrolysis, decomposition in melts.
13. Electrochemical and membrane technology, waste disposal
14. Biological degradation of waste composting.
15. Security approaches for storing special and hazardous waste. Legal
aspects of legislation.
