Subject syllabus:

1. Hydrosphere; water properties (physical, chemical, organoleptic); state. 2. Hydrological cycle - small and large; occurrence of water on Earth, distribution of water. 3. Surface waters, types (types of SW) and their characteristics. 4. Groundwater, types (types of GW) and their characteristics. 5. Hydrological balances. 6. Precipitation - distribution, measurement, atmospheric deposition. Rainwater management. 7. The impact of climate change on the hydrosphere. Anthropogenic influences on the hydrosphere. 8. Collection, treatment, transport, accumulation and supply of water, drainage and purification of waste water. 9. Waters of the seas and oceans - their properties, movements, pollution, reserves, possibilities of their treatment and use. 10. Drinking water, wastewater, mineral water, industrial, mining - definitions and basic characteristics. 11. Water as a strategic resource. 12. Water management companies and institutions operating in the Czech Republic, their importance and activities, web information portals. 13. Legislative regulations in the field of water and in the field of waste water, implementing regulations.

Mandatory attendence participation: Compulsory Attendance in Exercises. Elaboration and presentation of semester work.

Conditions for subject completion and attendance at the exercises within ISP: Compensation for mandatory participation in the ISP will be the elaboration of a semester paper on a topic assigned by the lecturer. The course is completed with an oral and written examination.
