Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Achieving knowledge in the field of physico-chemical treatment or water purification with emphasis on pressure and electrochemical membrane processes. Knowledge of the choice of water pretreatment methods, applicability of processes and evaluation of results. Determine, evaluate and discuss parameters affecting the course of treatment of interest solutions, while also proposing a suitable pre-treatment methodology in practice.

Summary

The aim of the course is to get acquainted with physico-chemical bases and theoretical approaches to membrane processes. An integral part of the course is the implementation of basic balance calculations in the field of membrane separation, with the contribution of models, basic relationships and relationships.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Study results will be verified in a combined way - submission of prepared laboratory protocols and credit test. Consultations in the area of ​​separation processes and water pretreatment. The course is completed by a combined exam (written and oral part).

1. Introduction to membrane processes, their role especially in the treatment of strongly mineralized waters respectively mine waters. 2. Division of membrane processes. 3. Balancing systems. 4. Pre-treatment of water by filtration. 5. Water pre-treatment for particle separation. 6. Membranes - description, production, classification, characteristics. 7. Membrane modules. 8. Pressure membrane processes. 9. Electromembrane processes. 10. Pervaporation. 11. Combined processes. 12. Concentration of solutions. 13. Industrial applications of pressure membrane processes and electrochemical membrane processes.
