Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the influence of industry on man and his environment.
Knowledge: The student will gain knowledge and acquire terminology in the field of industrial toxicology. They will understand and be able to describe the toxicological effects of selected hazardous substances. They can describe the values of NOEL, LOEL, NOAEL, LOAEL, the principle of their determination. Gain knowledge of current legislation in the protection of health when working with chemicals and preparations.
Skills: The student will know the rules of classification and labelling of hazardous substances and mixtures. Can describe the factors influencing the effects of substances on the human body; be familiar with the legislation of the Czech Republic and the EU in the field of substances and mixtures, protection of public health and safety and health at work. Can describe the principles of risk assessment and health protection when working with substances and mixtures, procedures in accidents related to exposure to substances and mixtures; describe the hazardous properties of important inorganic and organic substances. Can navigate sources of information on the hazardous properties of substances and mixtures, work with materials that provide rules for optimizing operations; draw up operating rules.

Summary
The course focuses on the toxic effects of raw materials, intermediates, products and wastes in the industry on humans, especially in relation to environmental and occupational exposures and risks. Attention is also paid to determining the risks to the biosphere arising from human industrial activity. The essence of the course is knowledge about the effects of individual groups of substances on the human body and knowledge about which toxic substances are produced by which industry. An integral part of the course is legislation in the field of chemical safety and prevention.
Compulsory literature:
Recommended literature:
Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester
Checking knowledge during the semester in consultations. The student's knowledge is verified in writing, with emphasis on understanding the topic and the application of theoretical knowledge in solving practical problems. The evaluation also includes collective evaluation and self-evaluation. The overall work includes students' active work in class. Written and oral exam.
E-learning
Other requirements
Active participation in seminars, proven successful processing of individual tasks, continuously awarded in the semester.
