Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The study of the subject Soil Protection Technology is conceived as an applied scientific discipline for students of the field of Environmental Protection. After completing it, the student is fully aware of the complex nature of the soil environment and multidisciplinarity in its study. The student is able to characterize the basic parameters of soil from a physical, chemical, physico-chemical, biochemical and biological point of view. The student understands the connection between natural conditions and soil conditions in the Czech Republic, which can characterize and is fully aware of why it is important to protect soil and can solve selected problems associated with land use, degradation, protection and remediation.

Summary
The course is focused on the use, degradation, protection and remediation of soils in the industrial environment and builds on the knowledge gained in other subjects in the field. During the study are addressed questions on the legislative ensure the protection of soil, the presence of hazardous elements and persistent organic pollutants in soils, soil degradation (physical, physico-chemical, chemical, biological and environmental) and possible remedial measures for technogenic soil from the environment of old environmental burdens, mainly from environments burdened by mining and industrial activities. Special attention is paid to soil substrates of dumps, sludge ponds and other landfills after ore mining and processing.
