Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Students demonstrate the knowledge of individual ways of treating selected types of mineral resources and factors influencing the choice of treatment. After completing the course, students will be able to design a suitable technology for treatment and processing of selected mineral resources based on the acquired knowledge.

Summary

The course is devoted to the issue of treatment and processing of selected types of mineral resources. Attention is paid to the technology of coal treatment, polymetallic ores, precious metal ores, ceramics and glass materials including industrial minerals.

Subject syllabus:

1. Mineral resources, their characteristics and division, basic technological processes of treatment 2. Coal. Origin and chemical composition of coal, physical properties of coal and their use in the process of treatment. Coal processing technologies 3.Ore raw materials, iron ores, non-ferrous and precious metals ores, their classification and characteristics 4.General principles of ore treatment schemes. Basic factors influencing the choice of ore technology. Genetic, physical, physico-chemical and chemical properties 5.Non-ferrous metal ore processing technology (selected chapters) 6.Technology of precious metals ores processing 7.Non-metallic raw materials, characteristics and distribution 8.Technology of ceramic raw materials 9.Aggregate technology 10.Technology of glass raw materials 11.Technology of inorganic binders 12.Graphite technology 13.Barite and fluorite technology

Conditions for subject completion and attendance at the exercises within ISP: Lectures in the form of self-study of materials assigned by the lecturer in the MS Teams or the e-learning portal at https://www.vsb.cz/e-vyuka/. Participation in exercises according to the student's capabilities. In order to receive credit, student must complete task assignments and personally write credit test, both no later than at the end of the examination period of the semester. The assignments will be provided by lecturer leading exercices. Written and oral exam.
