Course is devoted to the basic information on degradation processes in soils and soil protection. It includes water and wind erosion of soils, soil contamination, inorganic and organic pollutants in soil, acidification, sampling and analyses of soil water and soil air.

Subject syllabus:

Lectures: Degradation processes in soils. Soil properties important in terms of soil degradation. Causes and effects of water erosion of soil. General equation of soil erosion. Causes and consequences of wind erosion of soil. Erosion control measures. Contamination of soil industry. Contamination of soil by agricultural activity. Evaluation of soil contamination. Contamination of soil pollutants and remote transfer of critical loads. Ecological stability of the landscape and soil conservation. Degradation of soils in agriculture. Degradation of forest soils. Thermal methods for decontamination of soils. Physico-chemical methods of soil decontamination. Biological methods for decontamination of soils. exercise: Field evaluation of soil and soil erosion. Sampling soil water. Atmogeochemické methods to protect soils.
