Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Knowledge are checked during the semester by a semester project and presentations in MS PowerPoint. The course is completed by an examination, which may be scheduled having gained the initial credit. The examination is divided into a written and oral part.

Subject syllabus:

1. Characteristics of zoology as a science. Systematic zoology. Basic systematic categories. Binomial nomenclature. Biological species. 2. Legislative protection of animals in the Czech Republic. Bioindication, bioindicator, biomonitoring. 3. Characteristics, taxonomy classification, methods of study and bioindicative significance of phylum Porifera, phylum Cnidaria and phylum Platyhelminthes. 4. Characteristics, taxonomy classification, study methods and bioindicative significance of phylum Mollusca and phylum Annelida. 5. Characteristics, taxonomy classification, methods of study and bioindicative significance of the subfamily Chelicerata and Crustacea. 6. Characteristics, taxonomy classification, methods of study and bioindicative significance of the subphylum Myriapoda and selected classes of the subphylum Hexapoda - classes Protura, Diplura and Collembola. 7. Characteristics, taxonomy classification, methods of study and bioindicative significance of orders from the class Insecta - Ephemeroptera, Odonata, Plecoptera, Blattodea, Mantodea, Orthoptera, Dermaptera, Psocoptera, Anoplura, Hemiptera, Thysanoptera, Megaloptera, Raphidioptera, Neuroptera, Coleoptera, Trichoptera, Lepidoptera, Mecoptera, Diptera, Siphonaptera and Hymenoptera. 8. Characteristics, taxonomy classification and bioindicative significance of classes Petromyzontes and Osteichthyes. 9. Characteristics, taxonomy classification, methods of study and bioindicative significance of the class Amphibia. 10. Characteristics, taxonomy classification, methods of study and bioindicative significance of the class Reptilia. 11. Characteristics, taxonomy classification, methods of study and bioindicative significance of the class Aves. 12. Characteristics, taxonomy classification, methods of study and bioindicative significance of the class Mammalia. 13. Characteristics of the fauna of the Czech Republic and its position within Europe. Characteristics and important representatives of animals selected types of the environment of the Czech Republic, including man-made habitats.

Conditions for subject completion and attendance at the exercises within ISP: Within the ISP, the student is obliged to attend individual consultations, which will be conducted in the form of discussion on predefined and studied topics. Exercise: The student will complete the exercise in a block and hand in an individually prepared protocol based on a pre-agreed assignment.
