Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Graduating student will be able to find, identify and describe the various biota and habitats of the aquatic environment, to understand the natural processes taking place in and hydrobiocoenoses, to will be able to solve the anthropogenic load of aquatic ecosystems. Student will be able alsoto determine the aquatic organisms.

Summary

After completion of this subject students will understand basic characteristics of water environment, the evolving and categorization of freshwater communities, the pollution of water ecosystems by wastewater and some additional issues (acidification, eutrofication etc.).

Subject syllabus:

1.Limnologie, vznik a vývoj hydrobiologie. Základní charakteristiky a klasifikace vodního prostředí - druhy a typy vod. 2.Fyzikální procesy a chemické procesy ve vodách. Cykly základních živin. 3.Základy hydrobotaniky. 4.Ekofyziologie vodních a mokřadních rostlin. 5.Hydrobiologie stojatých vod - abiotické faktory. 6.Hydrobiologie stojatých vod - biotické faktory, biocenózy, biologická produktivita. 7.Hydrobiologie tekoucích vod. 8.Struktura a funkce hlavních společenstev vodních organismů. 9.Primární a sekundární produkce, trofické vztahy a modifikace trofických sítí. Regulační mechanismy a význam životních procesů pro kvalitu vodního prostředí. 10.Extrémní biotopy - acidifikace, eutrofizace. 11.Vodní společenstva (plankton, nekton, pleuston, bentos, drift) – vnitrodruhová a mezidruhová konkurence, populační dynamika, rozmístění druhů a jejich vývoj, vliv predace a narušení na strukturu společenstva. 12.Odpadní vody – druhy odpadních vod a jejich vlastnosti, způsoby znečištění povrchových vod, účinky nejčastěji se vyskytujících škodlivých látek.
