Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Knowledge of waste management in terms of their removal and their efficient material and energy recovery. Ability to distinguish different approaches, to estimate and find best solutions for a specific problem of waste management. Students will be able to obtain information for work experience, demonstrate a general overview and evaluate the problem. Compare different approaches and the practical site of them. Being able to produce results and solve the task independently. Demonstrate ability to communicate (active both writing and speaking), manage technical terminology.

Summary

The course provides students with basic information on the issue of waste economy and waste disposal. The students are acquainted with legal regulations concerning waste economy, prevention of waste formation, its effective material and power-producing utilization. Students are also informed about the following: the most important methods of disposal of the individual types of industrial waste and municipal refuse, individual technological procedures, such as collection, sorting and purchase of waste.
