The subject Hydro-separation Processes aims to present the methods of dewatering, thickening, flocculation of mineral resources and waste. Interpretation of the acquired information is within laboratory and experimental assignments.

Summary
The course provides the students with basic knowledge in the area of
hydroseparation processes. They will learn about the individual procedures,
principles and technological equipment. The course deals with the following
processes: dewatering, thickening, flocculation.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester
In the course of the semester tests will check the knowledge gained by students, understanding of the information is expressed by processing laboratory reports. The subject is closed by a credit and an examination.

Subject syllabus:
1. Basic concepts and characteristics of technological processes of raw material preparation.
2. Physical, physical-chemical and chemical separation processes and their basic technological characteristics.
3. Gravity technologies of concentration of mineral (and secondary) resources, both static and dynamic, theoretical substance and possible applications.
4. Physical–chemical and chemical methods of preparation of substances and raw materials
5. Substance of the flotation process, characteristics and action of flotation agents
6. Individual technological modifications of flotation, including machinery for flotation.
7. Theoretical essentials of soupádnosti, calculation of final velocities and coefficient of soupádnosti. Applicability of stalling speeds in the study of the following processes: sedimentation, hydraulic classification.
8. Characteristics of suspension coagulation and flocculation processes.
9. Dewatering and drying of coarse-grained, fine-grained matters and suspensions, principles and applicability.
10. Technical-technological characteristics of drainage bins, separators, centrifuges, filters and drying rooms.
11. Thickening and dewatering of fine-grained and sludge suspensions. Characteristics of suspension coagulation and flocculation processes.
12. Technical-technological substance of the filtration process; substance of vacuum, hyperbaric and pressure filtration of suspensions. Technological characteristics of settling basins (sludge ponds, lagoons and sludge beds), methods of deposition, improvement of old settling basins.
