Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Knowledge rendered after the end of the course: The student will be teaching the basics of soil as part of the ecosystem and its environmental component. Teaching builds on geological subjects (geology, mineralogy and petrography) and establishes a foundation for studying other subjects such Remediation Technologies, Environmental Risk, Monitoring Systems. Skills rendered after completion of the course: After completing the course the student should control the pedogenic rocks, weathering and pedogenic processes, soil composition, mineral phases in soils, organic matter in soil and basic soil properties.

Lectures

Summary

The course introduces the basics of soil science as part of the ecosystem and its environmental components. Teaching builds on geological subjects (geology, mineralogy and petrography) and forms the basis for the study of soil protection. Teaching is focused on pedogenic rocks, weathering and pedogenic processes, soil composition, mineral phases in soils, organic matter in soil and basic soil properties (physical and chemical). The course introduces the fundamentals of soil classification Republic (according to Unified soil classification system.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

During the semester there will be discussions about topics being taught in lectures, in exercises there will be control in the form of tests and two semester projects.

1. Soil, its basic features and characteristics. 2. Pedogenic factors. 3. Minerals of soil-forming rocks. Pedogenic rocks. The processes of weathering of rocks. 4. Pedogenic processes. 5. The composition of soils. Mineral phases in soils. 6. Natural organic matter in soils. Humus, humus overlying horizons. 7. Physical, properties of soils. 8. Chemical properties of soils. 9. Sorption properties of soils. 10.Soil water. 11.Edaphon. 12.Soil horizons. Principles of soil classification. Soil Classification CR. 13.Extension of soil in nature. 14.Soil maps.
