The subjetc includes topics as the protection of the amount and quality of
surface and ground water from the technical and legislative solution.
Purpose and importance, factors influencing water sources in the Czech
Republic, posibilities to increase the amount and quality of ground water,
water uptakes and use, water recources balance, development of the amount and
quality of water.
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with water protection. Explain the principles of legal and technical protection of water, protection of water quantity and quality. The subjetc includes topics as the protection of the amount and quality of

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester
Review in the form of a discussion of the material covered. Active participation in exercises, completion of assigned partial tasks (seminar papers), successful completion of credit test. The course is completed by a combined examination.

Subject syllabus:
1. Water protection, purpose and object of the Water Act, legal nature of water in the Czech Republic.
2. Water management - basic obligations for water management, extension, repeal, amendment. Use of surface waters for navigation, general water management and water management permits.
3. Other permits and measures for water management - permits, statements and consent as a tool for water protection.
4. Water works, types of water works, TBD obligations, operating and handling schedules.Authorisation for the construction of water works.
5. Protection of water conditions - PDOA, water protection zones, groundwater, sensitive and vulnerable area master plan, surface water used for bathing and supporting fish life, minimum residual flow.
6. Water planning, flood protection, drought and water scarcity management.
7. Water balance and its compilation. Surface and groundwater conditions.
8. Wastewater, types of wastewater, conditions for discharge (emission standards, volume measurement).
9. Hazardous substances in water, particularly hazardous substances according to the Water Act.
10. Management of hazardous substances, requirements of emergency plans, obligations in case of accidents and their disposal.
11. Measures to remedy the defective condition - emergency deterioration of water quality, oil pollution, methods of remediation.
12. Fees and payments under the Water Act and registration and entries in the Land Registry.
13. Performance of state administration in water protection - water authorities (their competences) and water administration supervision, Czech Environmental Inspectorate, water administration proceedings. Offences and administrative offences.
