Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
In this subject the students follow-up study explained the principle of flotation method of mineral processing and waste. Students in the laboratory exercises on the basis of experiments determined the ability of the flotation material and determine the optimum flotation conditions.

In this subject the students explained the principle of flotation, its importance in the treatment of minerals and waste, are familiar with chemical and physical Flotated the ongoing storyline, flotation reagents and their mechanisms of action, flotation devices and flotation methods of different types and raw materials. The theoretical basis for practical follow-up exercises in the lab, where students will apply the method of flotation on the specific samples of raw materials.

Students will elaborate papers on basis of excercises during a semester. The subject is finished by writting exam.

1. Principle of flotation, historical development and meaning
2. Types of flotation, principles and usage options
3. Terminology in flotation and Mineral processing
4. The conditions of flotation, their importance and influence on the flotation process
5. Basic parameters for evaluation of the raw material's floatability
6. Fractional flotation, principle and meaning
7. Floating curves, graphical representations from balance equations
8. Foam flotation, principle, flotation cycle scheme (basic, clean, control flotation, etc.)
9. Physical-chemical principle of flotation (stability of bonding of solid particles to air bubbles, surface tension of phase interfaces, electrokinetic phenomena, etc.)
10. Flotation reagents (flotation collectors, foams, activators, depressants, modifying substances, etc.), their chemical principle and their importance in the flotation process
11. Flotation collectors (ionic, non-ionic, amphoteric)
12. Flotation frothers, activators and depressors
13. Flotation devices (pneumatic, mechanical, pneumo-mechanical and other constructions)
14. Use of floatation in industrial sectors (flotation of metal waste, soluble salts, waste water, etc.)
