Summary
Knowledge of basic processes of the treatment of municipal and industrial
waste waters.
Water-it´s meaning (importance), kinds of water.
Mechanical, biological (aerobic and anaerobic) and physic-chemical
(precipitation, flotation, filtration, extraction, neutralisation, oxidation,
reduction, absorption, desorption,...) methods of waste water treatment.
Treatment of sewage sludge.

I. Introduction
1. The importance of waste water treatment.
2. Water properties. Water sampling.
3. Kind pollutants.Expression pollution.
II. Water industry
1. Water supply facilities in terms of required quality and quantity. Water
holding facilities, closed water circulation.
2. The rate of harmful waste water on surface and underground water resources.
3. Balancing the flow and quality of wastewater.
III. Methods of sewage treatment
IV. Mechanical methods of sewage treatment
1. Solid phase separation processes, filtration and sedimentation.
2. Movement of particles in the material environment, velocity of the particles, the resistance environment.
3. Mechanical equipment used for wastewater treatment. Screens, sieves,
gravel and sand traps, grease traps and oil settling tanks.
V. Physico-chemical and chemical methods of sewage treatment
1. Flotation, flotofloculation.
2. Precipitation, neutralization, oxidation, reduction, sorption.
3. Special physico-chemical and chemical methods of wastewater treatment.
